No Place Like Home
CircleCircle dot dot's "first ever acoustic musical" takes place on the streets and in the homeless shelters of San Diego. The production has mixed results. The book, after an impressive opening sequence, becomes predictable. Homeless Daisy, a young disabled woman, will find a way out. The dialogue is mostly stock, as are some thinly drawn characters. But the performers tackle the musical with skill and verve. Multi-talented Katie Harroff sings up a storm as Daisy -- especially "Broken" with Taylor Wycoff and "On the Road" with Jon Huckaby. Patrick Kelly, Andrew Steele, and Michael Nieto back up numbers with quality guitar work -- and Kelly shines with "He Strums a Song."
Worth a try.
