The Blues Dance and Music History Workshop features live music by Nathan James. Blues dancing evolved alongside a century of blues music throughout the United States. In this workshop, Blue Note San Diego has partnered with local musician Nathan James to connect the dots between the various styles of blues music and dancing as well as explore the historical contexts -- record labels, race relations, and the African-American diaspora -- that created these styles. This workshop is intended to allow blues dancers to better connect their dancing to the music. Musicians and dance teachers will demo styles but will not be teaching fundamentals. Non-blues dancers welcome to participate in the dancing, though you are welcome just to observe.
