Hillcrest Hauntseeing & History Tour

San Diego LGBT Visitors Center, 502 University Ave, Hillcrest
Cost: $25

The nighttime lantern led Hauntseeing Tour will take you on a spirited two and a half hour adventure to explore some of the most haunted buildings in San Diego's historic Hillcrest gayborhood.

We'll stop at Hillcrest's world famous watering holes, such as Urban MO's, The Brass Rail, and The Flame where we will try to summon the lost spirts of Paul, Annie or Hands. We'll share stories of its famous LGBT guests such as Juan Gabriel, and Harvey Milk!

We'll visit the abandoned masses of brick, mortar, stone and wood that serve as relics of "Pill Hill", where many of San Diego's residents were born... and died. Visit The Sisters Of Mercy Nursing School and St. Joseph's Sanitariam -- two silent and imposing hospitals -- abandoned after a century that saw the neighborhood through the AIDS crisis, a plane crash and a brutal hate crime.

We will take you to the location of actual hauntings and let you decide for yourself. Are spirits and ghosts here to spook, play or even bring justice for their killer? You'll visit "Hillcrest's Most Haunted Building" where your help is needed to crack the cold-case file and unsolved murder of Todd Stuart Loren, founder of Revolutionary Comics, and publisher of Rock 'N' Roll Comics. You'll even see the video said to have caught Todd singing to Madonna late at night.

We will follow the footsteps of "Cowboy" whose boots can still be heard hitting the concrete late at night. We will stop at the John Robert Wear Hate Crimes Memorial Plaque to pay respects and light candles for Cowboy, Todd, Gianni Versace, and John Wear, a teenage killed because he was perceived to be gay.

We will visit the home of Andrew Cunanan, a man who became the most hunted man in America. Visit Flicks Bar where he celebrated his birthday before embarking on a nationwide killing spree that ended with the death of fashion designer Gianni Versace. Learn why his brutal sexual and homicidal exploits put him in the company of deranged killers like Charles Manson, Jeffery Damher, and Ted Bundy.

We will visit historic sites such as Pernicano's Casa di Baffi, a restaurant left to rot for over 30 years. You'll see Harvey Milk Street, the Kahn Building, and the Hillcrest Pride Flag. Learn about San Diego's most infamous murder, the Betty Broderick Murders, which took place nearby, and you'll see a hidden visitor keeping guard at the World's First Gay Brewery.
