40 NORTH Dance Film Festival
Festival received 106 submissions from 19 countries and is a true representation of this innovative art form that blends dance and camera choreography to create unique visual experiences. 36 film selections will screen in three events, each in a different location, over two weekends. Dance film is the next prominent platform for dance and an essential venue of exploration for movement artists.
MA, directed by choreographer turned filmmaker, Celia Rowson-Hall, is a feature length film which details the journey of the heroine, played by Rowson-Hall, through the American desert as a modern day, Mother Mary. Rowson-Hall’s debut feature film – winning awards at both AFI Fest (American Film Institute – Los Angeles, CA) and Venice Film Festival (Venice, Italy) – will make it’s San Diego premier at the Museum of Photographic Arts’ Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theater.
