Mass at the Beach with St. Mary Star of the Sea
Beautiful St. Mary Star of the Sea church was dedicated on October 24, 1927. This year we will celebrate our 89th Parish Anniversary at the Jr. Seau Pier Amphitheatre with a Mass. We invite the community to join us for the celebration. Come to the pier in Oceanside to attend Mass with the awesome backdrop of the blue Pacific Ocean. We are especially thankful for our parish, those who worship with us, and those who serve it.
A fundraising raffle is being held in conjunction with the Anniversary. Raffle tickets are $10 each, and are available after Sunday masses, at the Parish office (M-F 10a-5p), and before the Mass at the Pier. Grand Prize: A 2016 Honda Fit LX 1st Prize: One Week Vacation at Private Beach Front Home in Puerto Rico--Sleeps 11 2nd Prize: Samsung 55” 4K UHD TV Winners need not be present. The majority of proceeds will be used to make facility improvements and repairs to our historic church. Raffle drawings will be held on October 16th following the Mass.
Recording artist Santiago Fernandez will perform a live praise concert from 10:30-11:30; The Mass will begin at noon; and if you get hungry, there will be a variety of multi-ethnic foods to enjoy from vendors. We are providing special parking and seating for those who are less mobile. We hope you will join the free celebration. With more than 4,000 parishioners and a history of serving the Oceanside community since 1893, St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church is celebrating 120 years in North County San Diego. In 1927, the current church, with its beautiful Spanish architectural influences and exquisite stained glass windows, was completed and dedicated on October 24, 1927 – 89 years ago next month! The parish also supports an accredited school that serves more than 280 children from pre-K through 8th grade where children learn in a faith-based environment since 1953 at 515 Wisconsin Avenue, just a few blocks south of the church in downtown Oceanside.
