Writing Humor
2730 Historic Decatur Road, Barracks 16 #204, San Diego, 92106
Cost: $45 - $54
Humor writing is among the trickiest techniques in all of fiction, regardless of form (novel, short story, sudden fiction, et. al.). It requires not only skill but judgment, restraint and, like comedy itself, timing. Students will survey in brief the humorous works of a variety of popular authors (from Twain and Thurber to Charles Bukowski and Alexander McCall-Smith), then write inside and outside of class various humor pieces, both prompted by the instructor and of their own design.
Instructor David Coddon is a writing instructor and a longtime voice on the San Diego arts, entertainment, and cultural scene.
