Re-Imagine Normal Street
Hillcrest is reimagining Normal Street with four days of free family fun starting Thursday, May 12, with a Pechakucha Night where planners and creatives share their ideas in 20 images for 20 seconds each. We will be transforming Normal Street into a car-free public space and opening up the street to pedestrians and cyclists. On Friday, May 13, we will be hosting a bike-In movie featuring Steven Spielberg blockbuster classic, E.T. On Saturday, May 14, Hillcrest Brewing Company presents their Hillcrest Craft Beer Crawl from 2-6pm, followed by a free outdoor concert. On Sunday, May 15, things will resume their natural order as we set up for the Hillcrest Farmers Market from 9am-2pm. Along with our headlining events we encourage everyone to enjoy our temporary bike lanes, outdoor café, lending library, lawn games, Puppy Play Station and our design booth where we will be crowd sourcing funds to make our community public space a reality. SANDAG through their mini grant program will be funding bike valet services for all 4 days. For more information please contact Megan Gamwell at [email protected] or visit FabulousHillcrest.com.
