Recognizing and Treating Eating Disorders
3855 Health Sciences Drive, San Diego, 92093
Cost: Free
Often mistakenly understood as a lifestyle choice, an eating disorder is actually a serious form of psychological illness that results in abnormal or disturbed changes to a person’s eating habits. New research that explores the relationship between the brain and behavior is leading to innovative treatments that address medical and psychological issues.
Walter Kaye, MD, and Terry Schwartz, MD, will review common eating disorders including anorexia and bulimia nervosa and present evidence-based treatments and therapies for people with eating disorders and their families.
