Rihanna
Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born in Barbados. After vacationing producer Evan Rogers heard her singing, he helped get her signed to Def Jam Records. She released her first album in 2005. Over the next five years, she earned five number one hit songs and sold eleven million albums.
In 2008, she won a Grammy Award for best rap/sung collaboration, for the song “Umbrella,” and her popularity soared in England as well. As of January 10, 2011, she was the first female solo artist in UK chart history to achieve number one singles in five consecutive years. The feat equals Elvis Presley’s UK chart record, as she dominated England’s Top 10 singles and also stayed at the summit of their albums chart. She also topped the Canadian chart for three weeks.
Her full-length Unapologetic debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 238,000 copies during its first week of release and breaking her streak of having the most number one songs on the Hot 100 without ever having a number one album. She's currently touring in support of her 2016 album Anti.
