Intercultural Music Conference
UCSD’s Intercultural Music (IcM) Conference presents three free concerts and eight discussion panels, February 26 at the Loft (http://www.sandiegoreader.com/events/2016/feb/26/intercultural-music-conference/?et=166637) and February 27 and 28 at Conrad Prebys Music Center, featuring intercultural music of and across the Americas, East and West Asia, and Europe. Through music and discussions, participants will consider the problems and prospects of intercultural music.
IcM features over 50 musicians and scholars from more than 15 countries, including music composed by North, Central, and South Americans, Chinese and Hong Kongers, Azerbaijanis, and more. There will be a piece showcasing a musical dialogue between jazz and Persian music, as well as keynote speeches on Andalusian music and Algorithm of Musical Time.
The February 27 event features Red Fish Blue Fish with Mark Dresser. February 28 will feature Musical Dialogues Across Continents and the IcM closing concert.
