Throwback Thursday
The San Diego History Center and San Diego Magazine have teamed up to bring a Centennial Celebration excitement to Balboa Park with an evening of hosted food and cocktails, education, music, and games. Three events in 2015 will be themed to various aspects of the 1915 Panama-Canal Exposition.
The educational portion of the event will lecture from noted historian, Dr. Iris Engstrand, and curator of the current History Center exhibition San Diego Invites the World, the exhibit showcasing the 1915 Panama-California Exposition prompted the building of Balboa Park and put San Diego on the world map.
Attendees will also receive free admission access to the History Center’s two Exposition-oriented exhibitions: Masterworks: Art of the Exposition Era and San Diego Invites the World.
The Expo-themed event also features hosted lite bites and cocktails from some of San Diego’s premier caterers and craft cocktail purveyors such as Coast Catering, Eco Cater, and Snake Oil Cocktail Company and a DJ spinning turn-of-the-20th century tunes, remixed to modern beats as well as games and a Tweet wall.
