The MiraCosta College Symphony OrchestrA presents its third concert of the season featuring primarily French composers. The program begins with Claude Debussy's impressionistic Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, based upon Stephan Mallarme's poem L'apres-midi d'un faune. Principal violist George Volkov performs as soloist with the orchestra in selections from Hector Berlioz' Harold in Italy. The program also features Music Department associate faculty member Steven Dudley Traugh, presenting his Fanfare and Dance for the 21st Century, performed with percussion ensemble and orchestra. The final presentation of the concert will be Cesar Franck's mighty Symphony in D minor. The event takes place in the Concert Hall, Bldg 2400.
