Migration and Violence in Central America
In our second program of the year covering the ongoing humanitarian and immigration crisis driven by the surge of child migrants from Central America, Ev Meade from USD’s Trans-Border Institute returns in conversation with Clara Long of Human Rights Watch.
Clara will present her research on the experiences of migrants after they are deported from the U.S. to their origins. With reports from the strife-torn streets and countryside of the migrants home countries, we will explore the impacts of U.S. regional security interventions, the War on Drugs, environmental degradation, and the turbulent internal politics in the fledgling democracies of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.
Dr. Everard Meade is the new Director of the Trans-Border Institute.
