Because I Care Fair
California State University San Marcos and the City of San Marcos present the Because I Care Community Fair.
The fair will be held in conjunction with the San Marcos Fire Open House, which is located adjacent to the Senior Center. The purpose of the Because I Care Fair is to promote support for individuals who provide care to family members including children, young adults, and aging adults. This year’s fair will have an emphasis on healing through the arts.
In addition to focusing on care for aging family members, the fair will include educational workshops and free blood pressure screenings, hearing test, blood sugar testing, ultrasound on veins and flu shots, Kids' Zone, and Craft Fair. There will also be over 50 vendors including retirement and assisted living communities, dentists, insurance companies, caregivers, In-Home Care companies, and crafters. The San Marcos firefighters will be selling grilled hotdogs and hamburgers.
From 11 am to 12:30 pm, keynote speaker Karl Steinberg, MD, Geriatrician, Family Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Care, from Scripps Mercy Hospital will be discussing “Pain: The Art and Science of Treatment.”
