Canyoneer Nature Walk: Blue Sky Ecological Reserve
16275 Espola Road, Poway, 92064
Cost: Free
This easy walk just north of Lake Poway follows along a stream and a woodland canyon of large oaks. The tracks of wild animals -- including coyotes, mountain lions, and bobcats -- attest to the habitats protected by the reserve. The new longer hike option will climb to an overlook of Lake Poway.
From I-15, exit east on Rancho Bernardo Road, which becomes Espola Road (S5). The entrance to the reserve is 0.25 miles east of the intersection of Old Coach Road/Bridlewood Road facilities. Allow 40 minutes driving time. (Map 1170-G3; GPS N33.017394, W117.024871)
Canyoneers are San Diego Natural History Museum volunteers trained to inspire appreciation of plants and animals in Southern California. Info: 619-232-3821.
