Brazil's Leadership in Health Sciences
The colloquium participants includes Elizabeth Soares from the Respiratory Diseases Department in the Rio de Janeiro Health Secretariat and Frederico Peres, Deputy Director of the School of Government in Health, a part of the National School of Public Health, ENSP, within FIOCRUZ the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.
Dr. Soares is a medical graduate of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and received her MPH in Epidemiology (2010) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has been a board-certified pulmonologist for almost 30 years, working on research and programs in the Brazilian public health service.
Dr. Peres has authored several scientific papers in occupational and environmental health and a book on the public health impacts of agricultural pesticides. ENSP and the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) awarded him MSc. and PhD. degrees in Public Health respectively.
