Grand Opening: New Thrift Shop in Point Loma
San Diego Rescue Mission will celebrate the grand opening of its new location with a San Diego Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at noon featuring Chamber president and CEO Jerry Sanders.
San Diego Rescue Mission signed a ten-year lease for the Point Loma property that had been vacant for two years.
“We have gathered items for the store that are ‘gently used' and donated by caring neighbors,” said Herb Johnson, president and CEO of San Diego Rescue Mission. “Articles for sale range from furniture and electronics to blue jeans, baby clothes, and wedding dresses to sofas, housewares, and luggage. The interior of the store has been completely renovated and the exterior, including the parking lot, has been thoroughly upgraded."
In addition to helping raise money for programs, thrift shop operations in Point Loma also will used as a training platform for people in the Rescue Mission’s recovery programs. Clients work in the warehouse and help to merchandise goods within the store and assist customers.
