New City Sinfonia concert
Daniel Ratelle leads the 40-member New City Sinfonia in “A Night in London,” a program featuring music by composers with a London connection. The concert will feature Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 97 (one of his 12 “London” symphonies), and will include Three Dances from “Henry VIII,” by Edward German, The English Folksong Suite, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the Concerto Grosso in Bb Major, Op.3, No. 1, by George Frederick Handel, and Mozart’s Overture to “The Marriage of Figaro.” Admission is free and street parking is free after 7pm. The New City Sinfonia is a community chamber orchestra sponsored in part by the San Diego Continuing Education Program. Now in its 27th season, the Sinfonia presents three free concerts to the San Diego Community each year, and has also provided a venue for soloists ranging from promising young students to nationally recognized professionals.
