David Dixon 10 a.m., April 17
Emmy Award-winning solo acoustic guitarist Billy McLaughlin will perform a two-set concert. McLaughlin had to retrain himself to play guitar with his opposite hand after developing symptoms of dystonia in his left hand. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder that targets certain muscles of the body, causing them to contract and spasm involuntarily. It can affect children and adults of all ages and ethnicities. There are limited treatments for dystonia but, as yet, no cure.
The proceeds from this concert will help to fund dystonia research.
