Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Part III
The tempting of Gawain, and the Hunt! While Sir Bertilak is out hunting, his wife comes to assay the virtue of the cold, lonely, miserable Sir Gawain. If he succumbs, he must pay the penalty in his own body for the sins he commits with his temptress!
Professional poet will recite the original Middle-English, richly flavored with Celtic, Scandinavian, and Norman French elements. (Editing Sir Gawain was Professor J. R. R. Tolkien's day job at Oxford.)
Dual-language scripts will be provided, and AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION IS EXPECTED!
I com hider sengel, and sitte In hope of pastimes new
To lerne at yow sum game; I have come where none can spy;
Dos, techez me of your wytte, Instruct me a little, do,
Whil my lorde is fro hame. While my husband is not nearby!"
