Fabulous Fishes
301 Caspian Way, Imperial Beach, 91932
Cost: Free
The Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve is hosting a free open house at the visitor center.
The theme for the night is "Fabulous Fishes," where families can learn fascinating facts about estuary fishes by participating in hands-on activities. This is a rare opportunity to see the reserve in the evening, when light-footed clapper rails are calling and the lights of Tijuana are shining to the south.
With various fish-themed scientific activities in the discovery lab, such as Be a Fish Biologist featuring a kiddie pool, a fish-breathing demonstration, and a chance to learn about the life cycle of a halibut.
The reserve is a partnership between California State Parks and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
