Dart Neuroscience LLC (DNS), together with Washington University in St. Louis, will be hosting the world’s top 16 memory athletes, competing for 60K in prize money in the first annual Extreme Memory Tournament, being held at our new facility in San Diego. We would like to share this event with the greater San Diego community.

The Extreme Memory Tournament has already created a buzz nationally, as it was featured in the press following the US Memory Championships, held recently in NYC.

The neuroscience and biomedical relevance of memory are growing concerns, and are of particular importance to a large portion of our community. San Diego recently hosted the 30K-strong Society for Neuroscience meeting and USCD holds bragging rights to one of the top Neuroscience graduate programs in the nation. Memory is also of significant interest for educators, students, military, government, computer enthusiasts/scientists, gamers, and the gaming industry.

Our moderator for the event is Nelson Dellis, the three-time and current U.S. National Memory Champion. Interestingly, he is not among the top 16 globally, which suggests that the competition is tough! All matches will be head-to-head battles featuring tests like memorizing numbers, playing cards, faces/names, and random words.

Qualifying Rounds will take place on May 26. Athletes placed into four groups (seed based on world rankings) will compete in concurrent round-robin events. The top two in each group will advance to the quarterfinals onMay 27, followed by the semifinals and finals. In addition, we will have two brief memory-relevant scientific talks between the final rounds on day two.
