Independent Therapy Dogs, Inc. is a not for profit organization dedicated to the promotion of registered therapy dog Teams through education, training and experience. Independent Therapy Dogs works with community partners, educational institutions, and other interested organizations to provide therapy dog visits and other special event programs to promote the understanding of the valuable role they play in community health and welfare. Canine nose work is a fun search and scenting activity inspired by working detection dogs. This activity is virtually for all dogs and people, easy to learn, and builds confidence and focus in many dogs while providing a safe way to keep dogs fit and healthy through mental and physical exercise. Your pet starts by learning to use his nose to seek out favorite toys or treats in several boxes; then, the game expands to entire rooms, exterior areas, and vehicles. As your dog grows more confident with his nose, target odors are introduced, and competition skills are taught.
