Poetry: Nuts and Bolts with Anna Dimartino and Ron Salisbury
We’ll discuss what makes a poem, look at different types of poetry (formal poetry versus free verse, narrative, and dramatic dialogue poetry metaphor), we’ll discuss ambiguity versus accessibility, and much more. You will not be required to do sestina push-ups, unless you want to, but we will write from prompts and critique work from the previous week.
Instructors Ron Salisbury and Anna Dimartino will regale you with poets such as Jack Gilbert, George Bilgere, Kim Addonizio, Jennifer Knox, Matthew Dickman, Jane Hirschfield, Ted Kooser, David Lee, Marie Howe, and Dorianne Laux.
Join us. Poetry should be fun.
While this course does build on the previous course Poetry I, the class is not a required prerequisite and all poets (of all levels) are welcome.
