Rajkó Gypsy Band and Dancers
The Rajkó Band, an authentic Gypsy ensemble from Hungary, will perform selections from their repertoire of Hungarian and Gypsy songs, classical, and operetta music, and will be accompanied by Hungarian dancers. In true Roma tradition, the Rajkó will alter the program to suit the audience and the musicians’ own creative mood.
The instrumentation includes violin, bass, clarinet, and the cimbalom, a unique instrument which mesmerized composers from Liszt and others of his time to Richard Strauss.
The concert is co-sponsored by the House of Hungary, San Diego, and the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library. A complimentary intermission reception featuring Hungarian pastries will offer an opportunity to mingle with fellow music lovers. Tickets are $15 at the door; $5 for children under 12.
- When: Sunday, September 8, 2013, 4 p.m.
- Cost: $5 - $15
