The Hungarian Duo: Cello and Piano
Cellist László Mező and pianist Bálint Sapszon will perform as the Hungarian Duo. Hungarian born, both are graduates of the esteemed Ferenc Liszt Music Academy of Budapest and currently reside in Los Angeles. Their program will include works from composers such as Bach, Schubert, Elgar, Popper and others as well as original arrangements of film scores and jazz tunes.
László Mező has earned prizes in a number of international competitions including a special prize in the International David Popper Cello Competition, has performed as a soloist throughout Europe as well Brazil and Japan, and conducted master classes in Hungary, Switzerland and Brazil. He is a member of the Pacific Symphony.
Bálint Sapszon, pianist and composer, has performed in a myriad of styles with jazz ensembles and symphony orchestras throughout Europe and Scandinavia. His compositions and arrangements are performed by groups ranging from European orchestras and ensembles to Hollywood studio orchestras.
The concert is co-sponsored by the House of Hungary, San Diego, and the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library. A complimentary intermission reception featuring Hungarian pastries will offer an opportunity to mingle with fellow music lovers. Tickets are only $15 at the door; there is no charge for children under 12.
