Create a visual metaphor for life, an autobiographical statement or a shrine with the guidance of instructor Sharon K. Novak. Sand and paint a flat piece of wood as a base. Cut images and shapes out of thin-gauge copper or brass. Add texture, line, form and color as you hammer, stamp, emboss, bend, fold, crunch, form, forge, fringe and oxidize using a variety of tools and metalsmithing techniques. Cold-connect metal shapes and add linear movement with wires that you twist, coil, spiral, bend and sew. Include collage materials or ephemera recycled from daily life or found in nature. Attach these with adhesives, copper and brass wires and colorful tacks and nails. Feel free to add any cool bits and pieces you bring from home. All tools and materials are provided. 619-223-0058.
