The "fab five," a Christian boy band, is performing the final show of their national, "Raise the Praise" tour. Although they bask in what looks like unconditional love, a crisis lurks beneath their halos. The musical is the pop-rock equivalent of an evangelist revival and a parody of apple-cheeked 90s boy bands. The writing and the Diversionary Theatre production sometimes confuse the two. Best to leave logic at the door. The performers (Hanz Enyeart, Hunter Schwarz, Shaun Tuazon, Patrick Mayuyu, Nicholas Sloan) are all capable, but could be more spontaneous and precise, in particular with choreographer Michael Mizerany's dazzling moves, from hip-hop and beyond.
Worth a try.
