U-T reports circulation gains, some dips, but...

It would be better for everyone if they quit using ink, used softer paper, and sold it in four-pack rolls.

Construction allowed to begin...again on Centerpoint development near SDSU

Sounds great, but what did they actually agree to? Glad they are all happy.

Great reporting. I love the "condo-blocking." You are one funny fella! Go Filner! Bye-bye Kelly. It's a new day in Mr. Bob's neighborhood.

Anon92107. I delivered papers once. I was maybe 9 or 10 years old. Got cheated by the guy who collected the money from us paperboys. Best, Don Bauder

Carrier suit against U-T begins tomorrow

Don, I want to make two things perfectly clear: 1. I DO NOT WANT you to deliver my newspaper. 2. I DO WANT you to continue being the best investigative reporter that San Diego has today, you are the one newsperson with the experience, intelligence and integrity to motivate us to fix our problems in ...

Mitt Romney signs on as San Diego-Tijuana Olympics consultant

First time reading an article by Mencken, is it? Hint: the blog is titled "Almost Factual News". You say sarcasm, I say satire. Ever think about speaking more softly and carrying a smaller stick, TR?

City Attorney finds gaps in Mayor Filner's effort to remove traffic from Balboa Park's Plaza de Panama

In Rome, Italy, the entire Via Imperiale closes every Sunday to automobile traffic - a lovely place to stroll and view the antiquities. Of course, Julius Caesar opened the nearby Via Appia some time ago, so they have had time to work out the kinks.

Carrier suit against U-T begins tomorrow

Anon92107: Maybe there should be a switcheroo. The news and editorial staffs will move to circulation, and the circulation people move into the news/editorial writing slots. In the 30 years I wrote for the U-T, many business executives said the paper would be better off if I were delivering it, not writing for it. Best, ...

This is another proof that Manchester's goal in life is to create an indentured servitude class in San Diego so his kind can maximize their profits regardless of how many people suffer, he is destroying quality of life in San Diego for everyone below his social class. San Diego tourism lags other California coast metros

Further irony: today the SD Daily Transcript reports "*If you're looking to stay in one of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego's 1,600 hotel rooms on Friday night, you're out of luck — the waterfront hotel is booked solid.*" The article's emphasis is on Memorial Day weekend - the military presence in San Diego provides ...

CPUC approves fat rate hike for SDG&E

Mitt Romney signs on as San Diego-Tijuana Olympics consultant

This is a low class sarcastic article. Romney should be respected as one of the most honorable politicians. He gave Obama some respect that was more than most any political foes would have. San Diego tourism lags other California coast metros

The feud between the mayor and TMD must be the reason. It has to be. There's no other factor to blame. Too high rates for old, worn out rooms in motels that saw their better days in the 70's, overpriced ho-hum restaurants that cater to tourists, attractions that charge too much for too little and ...

Carrier suit against U-T begins tomorrow

Visduh: Of course, you have to determine where the blame lies. If your paper lands in your neighbor's driveway continuously, you complain, and it continues, the fault may lie with the U-T, not the carrier. And you don't always know whom to blame for sloppy vacation holds and delayed deliveries. It could be the U-T's ...

Study finds unfair, unsafe working conditions for San Diego taxi drivers

The local establishment is all for tourism. Tourism involves taxis to/from Lindbergh, hotels, tourist attractions, restaurants, night clubs, and for the uninformed, the border crossing into TJ. Yet the folks who drive them are like slaves--poor, uninformed, and beaten down. What sort of impression do those drivers give to the well-heeled tourists visiting SD and ...

Carrier suit against U-T begins tomorrow

If the paper paid the carriers better, it would get better carriers. Too often I've found that the carrier cannot or does not follow instructions about vacation holds and delayed delivery. Then there's the carrier who throws our paper into the neighbor's driveway, and it takes three or four calls/emails to get it correct. Over ...

Study finds unfair, unsafe working conditions for San Diego taxi drivers

There was a house in Lemon Grove that was a kind of flop house for cabbies. Most of the guys that lived there seemed to be from northern African countries. There were always a few yellow cabs parked on the street and in the garage. I always wondered if the guy that owned the cabs ...
