Inception: San Diego, 2010

Influences: The Beach Boys, School of Seven Bells.

Background:

The shoegaze-inspired Weekend Wives was formed by San Diego writer-musician James Meetze, singer-guitarist for pop band Dreamtiger, and Lorelei Plotczyk, bassist-vocalist for indie band Film School, shortly after the couple married in August 2010.

The side project, says Plotczyk, borrows inspiration from the Beach Boys and shoegaze indie rockers School of Seven Bells. “The vibe is retro harmonies but with modern beats and catchy guitar and vocal hooks...and lots of fun to play.”
