Inception: Chula Vista, 1995
Background:
Since 1995, Tinku has been presenting musical extravaganzas featuring a large selection of music from around the world, with a wide repertoire of Latin-based song themes from over a dozen different countries, including Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The group's music spans even more musical genres. Members include fathers and sons, with the younger players also involved in the San Diego Symphony.
With performances several days each week, the band utilizes a variety of native instruments to highlight the unique sounds of South American string, percussion, and wind instruments, such as panpipes, or "panflutes."
