Tell Mama is the band aka for 40-something blues singer Laura Jane, who belts out tunes in a rock 'n' roll style akin to Janis Joplin. She also DJs and both hosts and performs at karaoke events.
Jane sometimes performs with boogie-woogie queen Sue Palmer, as well as sings with local bands Willcock, Z-Bopp!, and others. She says her proudest achievement has been "Singing our national anthem for the Detroit Redwings. Twice."
According to Jane on the band's MySpace page, "We're gonna change our name soon, cuz we've recently discovered we're not the only Tell Mama in town...we apologize for any inconvenience, confusion, or distress."
