Influences: The Quadrophonnes, Candy Dulfer, Dave Koz, the Four Ladies Sax Quartet, Kintamarni, the Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, Raphael Ravenscroft, the Darling Saxophone Four, Four Harmony Maids.
The Saxations are a quartet of saxophone-playing women consisting of LeiLani Vidal on alto and soprano saxes (her brother-in-law is former Tower of Power sax player Richard Elliot), Shannon Bates (alto sax,) Allison Boles (tenor sax), and Kyrie Lombard (baritone sax). Their live debut took place at Kaminsky's in Poway in September 2013.
Bates works as an editor, Boles works for a music publisher, Lombard is a full-time student who also plays in the big band at SDSU under Bill Yeager, and Vidal is a chiropractor and mother of three who as a child performed with her parents in Cam Vidal and the Blue Notes.
