Background:
In the 1950s, Randolph Clay Wood turned a Gallatin, Tennessee radio station into a successful music label, by hiring white singers to record cover versions of songs by black artists. Born in 1917, his label acts included Gale Storm, The Fontane Sisters, and Pat Boone.
The 94 year-old founder of Dot Records died in his home on April 16, 2011, after taking a fall.
