Background:
PHD Jazz is an offshoot of the long-running Thursday night jazz workshop that performs twice a month for the kids at Rady Children's Convalescent Hospital. The band usually performs as a trio with saxes, flute, piano and guitar. Other instruments and singers can be added to fit any situation, including a classic big band with 10 to 20 musicians. PHD performs classic jazz and standards from the great American songbook.
