Inception: San Diego, 2008

Background:

Nurses is a rock trio founded in San Diego, which moived to Portland, Oregon. Their 2009 debut Apples Acre, on the Dead Oceans label, can be compared to the Cure (circa The Top, Head on the Door) and enjoyed consistent critical praise for its “delicately shambolic” psych-pop sound. Their full-length Dracula, which dropped in September 2011, finds the former San Diego outfit bringing up the beats to toughen up with funk.
