Background:

Montalban Quintet is a jazzy rock band featuring members from Pinback, No Knife, Sleeping People, the Jade Shader, Tanner, and others. Bright tones, driving rhythms, mildly dark and pensive at times, descriptions of their sound have included post-punk, minimalism, jazz, new music, 1950s schmaltz, and field recordings. Suffice to say they play jazz, but disguised as rock.

Their self-titled full-length was released in 2011 on the Belly of the Whale label.
