Background:
Cardiff-based sitar player Kartik Seshadri began performing and recording while still in his pre-teens. In 1974, at around age 17, he began studying music with master sitarist Ravi Shankar, moving to San Diego in 1992 to be closer to Shankar's Encinitas home. He's now on the music faculty at UCSD.
Seshadri and composer Philip Glass collaborated on the Orion Project, which was performed at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, the Cervantino Festival in Mexico, and Australia’s Melbourne International Arts Festival.
