Background:
Demarre McGill began playing flute with the San Diego Symphony in 2004, having previously performed under SDS Music Director Jahja Ling in Tampa Bay’s Florida Orchestra. Besides becoming principal flute for theSDS, he co-founded the Art of Élan chamber music series with Symphony with Kate Hatmaker, as well as co-founding the Myriad Trio, which performs around San Diego. His brother, clarinetist Anthony McGill, also plays with the San Diego Symphony.
In 2011, McGill to Seattle, to play the same position with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. Having played with the SDS since 2004, he plans to continue working with the local Art of Élan chamber music series he co-created.
