Background:

British-born composer and conductor David Atherton has served as music director for the San Diego Symphony, as well as being a founding artistic director for San Diego's annual Mainly Mozart Festival.

Having married Eleanor Roth on October 24, 2012, the artistic director and co-founder of the San Diego Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra announced that he’ll resign after the June, 2013 Festival.
