Synoposis

Inception: San Diego, 1975

Background:

Born and raised in Los Angeles but a resident of San Diego since 1998, Braden Diotte’s unique approach to electronic music utilizes computer software to sample and/or manipulate the sonic environment that exists around us. His compositions, while structured at the core, are ultimately an experiment in electronic improvisation. By extracting environmental textures from radio broadcasts, open microphones, feedback, white noise, engine noise, etc., the compositions strive to create music through pattern and process, regardless of source.

Diotte studies computing in the arts for music, as well as cognitive science, at the University of California, San Diego, and is a touring member of Pinback and a founding member of Tarantula Hawk.
