Background:
Blue44 is a genre-bending improvisational ensemble whose music is rooted in jazz. Reflecting today's rapidly changing and unpredictable cultural and musical landscape, the band mixes elements such as spoken word, Latin, worldbeat, and funk, to create a fresh groove-based sound. Ambient grooves, sometimes called acid jazz or nu jazz, played with simple harmonic structures, to provide a deconstructed foundation on which musical journeys are embarked in an unpredictable, improvisational format.
Their album The Vault was released in 2003.
In 2010, they landed a weekly Friday residency, playing from 6PM to 9PM at Candelas on the Bay, on First Street in Coronado.
