Background:

Singer-songwriter B.C. Jean (Britney Jean Carlson) rose quickly in the music biz after cowriting the song “If I Were a Boy,” a 2008 hit for Beyoncé. In December 2008, Jean - 21 at the time - was signed to RCA Records by Clive Davis, credited as having discovered Janis Joplin, Whitney Houston, and Billy Joel.

A former BlueGirl with local pop group Liquid Blue, the San Diego native grew up in Ramona, Escondido, and Del Mar. She quit high school to pursue a music career. As of 2009, she was living in L.A., along with Tristan Prettyman, the Muslims/Soft Pack, and several other locals who've made the same move over the past few years.

She made her first network TV appearance on the Rachel Ray TV show on January 17, 2011, performing her song “Just A Guy.”

Her major label debut single “Just a Guy” was released in Autumn 2010.
