Keeping the sacred balance of this tradition alive, two local artists, EXIST1981 and Alli Bautista, will create new Mandala works. Thumbprint Gallery will be hosting the upcoming art show “Sacred Geometry” at BASIC on March 19. There will also be a Pop-Up Boutique and Fashion Show presented by VIXEN productions.
EXIST1981 Exist1981 is a local underground artist, who started his education on the streets. His work is accessible and no matter the medium, the result is always a stunning, one of a kind work. Exist1981 incorporates complex layers, line-work and stenciling in his work. When asked about his current style, Exist1981 explains that “As I learn and change, my art evolves. The art I will create in the future will reflect my life experiences, musical influences and point of view for that place and time.” This constant change and variation creates a stimulating collection of artworks.
ALLI BAUTISTA Alli Bautista is a local artist with experience in drawings, paintings, and type design. Her creative freedom leaves her open to explore his inpirations, which she draws from movies, textiles, patterns, and even words on paper. Her fascination with lines and typography helps her to create interesting and unique type. She draws many custom Mandala art pieces in all colors and sizes.
VIXEN productions will be there with a Pop-Up Boutique featuring local fashion vendors with one-of-a-kind items. Along with the vendors, VIXEN productions will entertain spectators with a runway fashion show. VIXEN is known for organizing a variety of fashion, music and art events that capture the local unique artistic culture.
The opening starts at 7pm and runs until 12am on Tuesday March 19. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Avenue in downtown, San Diego. There is no dress code and no cover. However, you must be at least 21 years old to attend.
