. If you have been hearing loud noises or popping sounds in the El Monte area no worries. It is various helicopters making supply drops to the adjacent moutains just north west and north east of landing zone. Which is located just east of Lake Jennings Road. There are two A-Star Helicopters one McDonnell Douglas MD-500 , the infamous Erickson Sikorsky S-64F Skycrane from Erikson Air Cranes and a Kaman K-1200 K-Max very unique looking helicopter, usually intended for logging,firefighting, supplly line drops.These helicopters fly alomost non-stop in the area . So be on the look out when passing through the area, the helicopters hover at 100ft above the power lines and pass over the street. I've had the opportunity just today to catch the 64F Skycrane taking off and making supply drops , what a sight .
