Yesterday, I attended the 2nd annual San Diego Oysterfest, held at the Embarcadero right by Seaport Village. The weather was perfect, sunny and clear with a cool breeze coming off of the water. Unfortunately for me, I can't stand oysters. I call them "snot in a shell." But my people (particularly my man, David) can't seem to get enough of them. So it was enough for me to see how much they enjoyed tasting oysters from British Columbia to Mexico, offered by farms such as Drake's Bay Oyster Company, Penn Cove Shellfish, Carlsbad Aquafarm, and Fanny Bay Oysters.

Live music didn't get going until later in the afternoon (before that, DJs were spinning mostly 90s retro club mixes - even Salt n Pepa). The live music line-up included Pepper, the Nervous Wreckords, Vokab Kompany, Who and Paulo Da Rosa, and Sic Waiting. When a friend asked me to describe the crowd, the first thing that came to mind was San Diego State. White, hetero, mainstream partiers were the majority on the grassy mounds. Some folks were definitely getting their drink on -- and they had over 16 beers to choose from, as well as wine, cocktails, and whiskey.
