Superstore Bill Draws Legions of Lobbyists

The Center for Investigative Reporting's California Watch website has launched a new searchable database of who is lobbying which bills in the state legislature, though it doesn't say on what side they're on.

A good sample search is SB 469, the bill authored by Democratic Sen. Juan Vargas to require so-called economic impact reports for superstores.

Bitterly opposed by Wal-Mart, the measure passed the legislature and is currently on the desk of Gov. Jerry Brown.

Based on the California Watch tally, below, the legislation has been close to a full-employment act for Sacramento lobbyists:

Chula Vista not boring

I had to play “Johnny B. Goode” five times in a row. I got knocked out with an upper-cut on stage for not playing Aerosmith.
