More on Greinke vs. Quentin

Apparently, after Thursday night's game and the brawl that interrupted it, Carlos Quentin and Matt Kemp squared off

It was learned that late after the game on Thursday between the Dodgers and Padres where a brawl broke out, that after players had dealt with media and showered and dressed that there was an altercation between the Padres Carlos Quentin and Matt Kemp of the Dodgers. Security and police were on it quickly, and while the pair went nose to nose, no punches were thrown. Padres pitcher Clayton Richard, a former teammate of Carlos when they were both with the White Sox organization, initially separated the two until officers arrived.

The argument occurred in a tunnel shared by both the home and visiting clubhouses on their way out to parking and team bus access. According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, at one point during the altercation, Kemp told Quentin, “We’ll see, bitch.”

Kemp is batting .182 this season.

Meanwhile, in the clubhouse on Friday afternoon, media mulled about the clubhouse as the players prepared to take batting practice and warm ups, most of whom were asking questions regarding the melee from the night before. Carlos Quentin, who was getting ready at his locker during all of this, finally turned and hollered at all media to gather around him.

“I’m only going to do this one time, so leave my teammates alone about it, I’ll answer your questions,” Quentin told media.

And Carlos answered several questions, most of the answers the same as the night before. One question that hadn’t been asked was whether Matt Kemp had sought the confrontation with Carlos Quentin, and Quentin indicated that he believed it had just been a chance encounter in a shared stadium tunnel exit space.

As to when and how Major League Baseball will fine and/or suspend those involved in Thursday’s brawl remains to be seen. As of Friday, Carlos Quentin is in the starting lineup for the Padres, batting cleanup and playing left field against the Colorado Rockies.

For the Dodgers, it was learned Friday that Zack Greinke’s broken collar bone will require surgery and that Greinke should miss at least six weeks. After the end of last season, the Dodgers signed Greinke as a free agent to a deal worth $147 million over six years.

Edit (6:40 PM): Multiple sources are indicating that Carlos Quentin will receive an 8 game suspension from the Commissioner's Office for his actions in Thursday's game. Jerry Hairston, Jr. to receive 1 game suspension. Both are expected to appeal the suspension.
