Two bodyguards of Rosarito's police chief beat up law student

Translated by Fulano from an article in Rosarito en la Noticia

Rosarito - Once again, police officers Juan Álvarez and Rodrigo Rodríguez Martínez, who are bodyguards for Playas de Rosarito's police chief Francisco Castro Trenti, injured a law student with the brutality for which they have been characterized.

It all started last Tuesday at 4PM when Samuel Castillo Antonio, 21 years old, was heading to classes in Tijuana. He did not notice he was being pursued by a motorcycle with no license plates or flashing lights to pull him over when he arrived at the toll booths in Playas de Tijuana.

Upon arriving at the booths and waiting in line to pay, the motorcycle marked with number 07-008, driven by police officer Julio Cesar Reyes, intercepted him.

The officer arbitrarily blocked him off with his motorcycle, preventing him from moving until personnel from the Ministry of Communications and Transport told the police officer he was on federal land and he should call the proper authorities.

It was when a second unit arrived at the location, with the bodyguards for Rosarito's police chief, Francisco Castro Trenti, that officer Reyes Ochoa asked the youth, "What do you do?" The student answered that he was a law student, for which Reyes said that right now you will see your laws...son of a bitch.

Then the youth was taken to the police station, but he was not taken before a municipal judge. According to the beaten youth, they handcuffed him and tossed him into the back of the police vehicle, meanwhile a police officer was sitting on top of him.

His martyrdom did not end there, on the contrary, his agony started again. When he arrived at the police facilities, they threw him to the floor and from there into a room which the police officer called the "Karaoke," where they beat him.

While all this was going on, police officer Rodrigo Rodríguez, told him, "If I take off your handcuffs, do you want to take a shot at me?"

This morning, the victim appeared before the Public Trustee and filed a complaint against the abusive police officers. After being beaten they also invented an endless list of false charges against him.

There is also a complaint with the Public Minister for abuse of authority, which is investigation file number 1058/13/207/AP.

It is worth mentioning that these abusive police officers have prior charges of abuse of authority, injuries and false arrest. However, police chief Francisco Castro Trenti keeps them around, since they take care of his dirty work.

[Fulano's note: Rosarito police chief Francisco Castro Trenti is the brother of Fernando Castro Trenti, who is currently running for governor of Baja California. Francisco Castro Trenti failed the mandatory confidence test for police officers, yet he remains the active duty chief of police for Playas de Rosarito.]
