Harry's Coffee Shop in La Jolla opened in 1960, and judging from the wall of fame in the back of the place, has sponsored every sports league in the city since. That's how it is at Harry's. It's family owned, and family oriented.
I sat at the counter so I could watch the action and chat with the servers. I don't think a single person sat down the entire time I was there who didn't get greeted by name. Not just by their server, either. By every server. Top marks for the friendly vibe.
I ordered coffee ($2.00) and a fried egg sandwich ($8.99). There's several bread choices, including bagels or biscuits. Well, biscuits it is. With bacon and cheddar. Hash browns on the side.
Nice sandwiches. There's a fried egg, two pieces of crisp bacon, and melted cheddar on each piping hot biscuit. It's really good. The hash browns were good too, not greasy or mushy. Bits of crunchy brown throughout.
Another nice touch is the coffee. You get your own little thermal pot, to refill your cup whenever you like.
